The Little Italy Sicilian Festival, all day Sunday, May 18th, is kicked off, on Saturday evening, with this journey of music and families studded with never-before-seen images of the Palermo concert of the legendary Frank Zappa, the eclectic and much loved rock star with Sicilian roots. The Palermo concert ended abruptly, in a riot, while outside the concert stadium, the feast day of Santa Rosalia was being celebrated.

Date: May 17th
Time: 7PM
Location: Convivio Center in San Diego’s Little Italy.
Tickets: $5/each donation at the door or at Convivio Tickets

Director Salvo Cuccia has put together two stories in this film: that of the disastrous concert, and, thirty years later, the touching reception received by Zappa’s widow Gail, his children Moon, Diva and Dweezil, and Massimo Bassoli, Zappa’s great friend and biographer, in Partinico, Sicily, the town that Frank’s parents left to come to America.
