For a fisherman and his family, struggling to make a living on a picturesque Sicilian volcanic island, the flood of illegal African immigrants raises moral questions.  Disregarding the law, Filippo and his grandfather rescue Sara, a pregnant African woman, and her son, at sea.
As the authorities close in on the illegals they’re hiding, the family embarks upon a plan to help Sara, her new baby and son escape to the mainland. A close call leads to unexpected events, and a haunting final scene.
