Salvatore’s life is centered in the Cinema Paradiso movie house, where projectionist Alfredo instills in the boy a love of films. Salvatore grows up, falls in love with a beautiful local girl and takes over as the Paradiso’s projectionist, but Alfredo encourages Salvatore to leave his Sicilian village and pursue his passion for film making.
