This is a “Commedia all’italiana”–films which, while being comedies, often have serious, even tragic, undertones.  Our two protagonists are a Roman, and a Milanese (played by the great Italian actors: Alberto Sordi and Vittorio Gassman). Caught in the insanity of World War I, this duo will do anything to escape danger and responsibility.
